
The President’s Cabinet Scholars program is an elite leadership initiative designed to prepare students for success in their careers, communities and civic life. In partnership with The University of Alabama’s President’s Cabinet—an advisory board composed of distinguished business, industry, and community leaders—this highly selective program provides students with unparalleled access to accomplished leaders from across the state and nation.
The program cultivates principled, prepared and purpose-driven graduates equipped to lead in an increasingly complex world. Through curated leadership seminars, professional development workshops, executive-level discussions, and individualized mentorship from President’s Cabinet members, Scholars develop the knowledge, skills and networks necessary to make a meaningful impact in their professions and communities.

Inaugural Cohort
The inaugural cohort is composed of 15 sophomores, 15 juniors and 15 seniors for a total of 45 members.
Selection Process
Applications for the next cohort will open in February 2027. Students will be selected through a competitive application and interview process.

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- At least second-semester freshman standing
- Full-time enrollment as an undergraduate
- Involvement, but not overcommitment, in campus activities
- Demonstrated commitment to leadership development, professional growth and career exploration
- Ability to devote five to 10 hours or more each week to fulfill program expectations and attend required events

No. The program welcomes students from all majors and career interests. While many President’s Cabinet members are leaders in the business community, the experiences offered through the program are applicable to a wide range of career paths and professional goals.
Current President’s Cabinet Scholars are pursuing degrees in finance, management, engineering, marketing, political science, psychology, communication studies, computer science, biology, and more.
How are mentors matched with students?
Students are matched with President’s Cabinet members based on factors such as academic interests, career aspirations, leadership goals, and mentor availability.
What are the requirements of a President’s Cabinet Scholar?
Scholars are required to fully engage in all program activities, including monthly leadership seminars and professional development workshops, relevant follow-up assignments, and special events such as networking lunches. Scholars are also expected to meet with their mentors at least twice a month and maintain consistent communication throughout the program.
