Faculty and staff, I hope you will join me Sept. 22 for our Fall Campus Assembly in the North Zone at Saban Field in Bryant-Denny Stadium, where I am excited to share more about the progress we have made and what comes next for UA as the future-ready flagship. Most importantly, I want to talk about your work turning our commitments into action. We do important work together, and it is worth making time to recognize and celebrate the people and places that make Alabama special.
I look forward to seeing you next week.
– Peter
DEVELOP | Experience That Opens Doors
Students, an Alabama education prepares you for more than graduation. You will leave the Capstone ready to take what you have learned into the career and life you want to build.
- Put your learning in motion. A co-op can give you up to a year of paid, hands-on experience with an employer while you are still earning your degree. These experiences build skills, professional relationships and confidence, and they can shorten the path from classroom to a career. Crimson Co-Ops are available across majors, and I encourage you to explore where one could take you.
- Take pride in what you have earned. This summer, 624 UA students were named to the President’s List or Dean’s List. That kind of academic achievement deserves to be celebrated. Congratulations to each of you; you make Alabama proud!
DISCOVER | Research That Moves Us Forward
Our faculty, staff and students are pursuing ideas that solve real problems and improve lives. Their research is turning discovery into meaningful results.
- See innovation in motion. Our eight new electric buses are moving people around campus while generating real-world data our students and faculty can use to study electric mobility, energy use and emerging transportation technologies. It is an exciting example of how investments in our campus can create new opportunities for research and learning.
- Pursue discoveries that matter. UA researchers recently found promising results from a combination approach to lupus treatment in a preclinical study. Work like this is an important part of our mission, advancing knowledge that can improve health and create better outcomes for people in Alabama and beyond.
SERVE | Here for Our Students
Students, you are at the center of what we do. Your Alabama experience extends well beyond the classroom, and our community is here to support you along the way.
- Make Alabama your own. September is full of opportunities to get involved in campus life while investing in your future and your well-being. Some of your most meaningful experiences at Alabama will come from the people you meet and the opportunities you choose to pursue outside your coursework.
- Show up for one another. A new UA tradition is turning Alabama pride into direct support for our students. Half of the proceeds from the inaugural Tide Together T-shirt will support the Tide Together Student Support Fund, helping students facing unexpected financial needs. It is one more way we can help them keep moving toward their goals.
Voices of UA

“As most employers are requiring a couple of years of professional experience in your field these days, completing a co-op gives you an advantage. Through my co-op terms, I have developed technical and professional skills and worked on meaningful projects. I’ve also collaborated with cross-functional teams and built a strong professional network. Completing three co-op terms has given me the confidence, professional experience and practical understanding of workplace expectations that have already had a meaningful impact on my professional development.”
