For the ninth time in the past 11 years, The University of Alabama has been named a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright Students. This recognition speaks to the curiosity, ambition and global perspective our students bring to their work, as well as to a community culture that encourages them to look outward and lead with purpose. This is the kind of impact we strive for on our campus and far beyond it.

For Our Students
- Congratulations to the 15,388 students who earned a place on The University of Alabama’s dean’s list or president’s list for Fall Semester 2025. You put in the work, and it shows. Well done!
- Hands-on learning opens doors. Through a competitive fashion week design experience, students demonstrated creativity, communication and real-world problem-solving, with UA senior Aubrey Davis earning top honors. These opportunities underscore our students’ talents and the bold, forward-looking careers they are building.
- At the 2025 River Pitch competition, UA students led teams that won top awards for business ideas showcasing innovation, entrepreneurial drive and persuasive communication skills. This achievement demonstrates that our students are ready to lead.
Enhancing Operations
- I am pleased to announce a pending search for the Vice President for Community Impact. This position will build upon our history of community service and external outreach, including programs in the Division of Community Affairs; Opportunities, Connections and Success; and others. The position will strengthen UA’s impact and partnerships that support our educational infrastructure and commitment to recruit, retain and graduate students from all 67 counties in Alabama, grow the state’s workforce and economy, and improve quality of life, while also realigning programs and responsibilities for maximum efficiency, effectiveness and accountability. This follows Dr. Samory Pruitt’s announced retirement, ongoing organizational reviews of several areas in my executive cabinet and personnel updates already announced in Academic Affairs and Finance and Operations. I am confident these steps will build upon a strong foundation and strengthen our mission of teaching, research and service.
Across Our Campus
- We have launched a national search for the inaugural dean of the School of Leadership and Policy. This leader will help shape a new academic home focused on leadership and public service, grounded in applied learning that will prepare students to turn ideas into meaningful impact across Alabama and beyond.
- Crimson Compass, our new college readiness initiative, is now underway, offering Alabama high school students two innovative programs: Tide to Success, a self-paced online course for ACT prep and college planning, and UA ACTivate, a summer residential experience that immerses students in life at the Capstone while sharpening their test-taking skills. These programs reflect our commitment to empowering future UA students statewide.
- UA has again earned renewal of its Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement, recognizing a sustained commitment to partnerships that connect learning and research with service to communities across Alabama and beyond. Our students, faculty and staff are engaging with real challenges and contributing in meaningful ways beyond the classroom.
- I want to recognize the UAPD Communications Division for receiving Agency Training Program Accreditation, a national distinction that reflects the professionalism, preparation and care of the team that supports the safety and well-being of our campus community.
