A Message from the President – September 10, 2204

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

It’s wonderful to see our campus buzzing with energy with the fall semester now in full swing. I hope you’re all feeling settled and engaged.

With two victories already in the books on the newly dedicated Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, we’re looking forward to another exciting home football game in late September and participating in Beat Week, a fundraising challenge between Alabama and Georgia. Every gift, big or small, supports vital programs that enhance the UA student experience. I encourage you to visit beat-week.com and support the programs shaping our students’ futures.

I’m pleased to invite our faculty and staff to the Fall Campus Assembly tomorrow. I’ll be sharing my vision for our continued success and focusing on our goals and opportunities for the year ahead. We will also hear from Provost Dalton about academic initiatives and celebrate faculty achievements. Leaders from the Faculty Senate, OCTSA, PSA and SGA will outline their goals for the year, so I encourage all faculty and staff to join us.

A reminder for students: The University of Alabama System Office of External Affairs is seeking applicants for the next class of Capitol Scholars. This program offers a unique chance to intern in Washington, D.C., next summer. Applications are open until Sept. 23 — don’t miss out!

We’re proud to announce the official opening of the USGS Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility near the NOAA National Water Center. As leaders in advanced water science research, this cutting-edge facility further enhances ourability to tackle critical environmental challenges and deepens ouunderstanding of water systems.

We’re also incredibly proud of the five student-athletes from The University of Alabama’s Adapted Athletics programs and 10 alumni who competed at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris. Four current student-athletes and one alumna won silver for the USA women’s wheelchair basketball team, with the help of Coach Ryan Hynes and Medical Director Alex Curry. One alumna won two bronzes in hand cycling competitions for Germany. Competing at this level is an extraordinary achievement, and their dedication and hard work are inspirational.

‌Thank you for being such an important part of our UA community. Youdedication makes all the difference.

Roll Tide!

Sincerely,

Stuart R. Bell
