Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
I hope you had a refreshing spring break and are ready for an exciting semester final stretch! This is a time when hard work, discovery and preparation take center stage.
Our faculty and students continue to push boundaries in research and innovation. From advancing treatments for Parkinson’s disease to leading environmental and ecological initiatives that serve our state, UA is making an impact. We’re also strengthening Alabama’s mental health care opportunities with a new psychiatry residency program, addressing critical needs in our surrounding communities.
In addition, our student organizations are demonstrating remarkable commitment to community service. Recently, Capstone Agency collaborated with other student groups in a 24-hour CreateAthon, providing valuable marketing and communication strategies to eight nonprofits. This initiative offered hands-on experience to our students and significantly benefited organizations in need.
Our student-athletes are also making us proud this spring. Congratulations to our men’s basketball team on earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Kudos to our women’s basketball team for their selection as a No. 5 seed. Additionally, Alabama baseball has enjoyed a red-hot start to the season, posting a 20-1 record, including a series sweep in the SEC opening series this weekend. And a special shoutout to Doris Lemngole for capturing her third NCAA career gold medal in the women’s 5,000m at the Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Finally, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our Office of Emergency Management for their vigilance in keeping our campus community safe and informed during last weekend’s weather event. Their efforts ensured that we remained prepared and aware. I encourage everyone to stay connected with campus safety resources by signing up for UA Alerts and downloading the UA Safety App.
Let’s make these last two months of the semester count.
Roll Tide!
Stuart R. Bell
