A Message from The President – June 22, 2023

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

We applaud The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees’ in-state tuition freeze for the upcoming academic year and their ongoing commitment to encourage students from Alabama to study here. We will continue to equip and empower our students to lead and serve in our communities across the state, the nation and the globe.

Please help me congratulate Sydney Aldrich, Aurora Baker and Kylie Overton — UA’s newest recipients of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship. Our Alabama Astrobotics team also continues to shine at the national level, claiming first place in one of only two categories awarded at the recent Robotic Mining Challenge. And 11 of our students will be competing for the title of Miss Alabama at the end of the month to represent our state at the Miss America pageant later this year.

Among our faculty and staff, Shannon Roulaine of Honors College was recently recognized for her conscientious service. I encourage you to continue nominating your peers who demonstrate enthusiasm for the UA community by embodying our spirit of pride, determination and ingenuity as Everyday ChampionsAcross campus, enterprising faculty and staff are earning honors for their contributions to our stature as a national leader in higher education.

Finally, Alabama Athletics welcomed Rob Vaughn as the Crimson Tide’s head baseball coach. And with the SEC’s release of the 2024 football schedulewe can look forward to both an exciting season this fall and four competitive conference matchups in Bryant-Denny Stadium for fall 2024.

Roll Tide!
