A new ranking of colleges and universities ranks The University of Alabama seventh in the nation among public universities. The ranking also places UA 42nd among all national universities, both public and private.

UA RECEIVES $50,000 FROM BERNARD OSHER FOUNDATION – The Bernard Osher Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to UA for the Osher Reentry Scholarship Program, which assists students who have experienced a five-year or more interruption in their education and want to resume their undergraduate studies to complete their degree.

FREESE TO MAKE WORLD-PREMIERE RECORDING OF NEW WORK IN PARIS – Next month, Dr. Faythe Freese, associate professor of organ in the UA School of Music, will do something only one other American has been allowed to do – record a CD at L’Eglise de la Sainte-Trinité in Paris (Church of the Holy Trinity).
